Education Services
Support for Learning
The aim of the education unit is to provide support
and encouragement to young people whose previous experience of education
may not have been positive. Moore House has a full time Learning
Support teacher who works individually with young people in the
Learning Support base, as well as offering additional support in
particular subject classes. The Learning Support teacher plays an
important part in the initial assessment of all young people, helping
to identify gaps in education and working in a consultative role
to enable subject teachers to provide a differentiated curriculum.
All young people have a key teacher with whom they
spend individual time on a weekly basis.
A team of classroom assistants enhances the learning
experience of young people by offering support on an individual
or small group basis.
Care staff spend time in school with their key pupils
and take an active interest in their education. Additionally, a
dedicated team of three staff, led by a Senior Child Care Worker,
provide behaviour support during the school day.
