Care Services
Throughcare and Aftercare
The Throughcare Service exists primarily to young people
who have had successful placements with Moore House School. Granby
Avenue was opened in February 2003 and Alberta Avenue was opened
in February 2004. Both projects are three bedded units in the Howden
area of Livingston.
The service is staffed 24 hours a day and open 52 weeks
of the year; it provides support and guidance on housing, benefits,
relationship issues, health and wellbeing, training and employment,
finance and lifestyle choices.
The houses are staffed with a project leader and three
project workers who act as support workers to an individual young
person. There is always a member of staff in the project and at
other times 2 members of staff can be at the project. This arrangement
allows for some one to one work with individual young people. There
is no waking night staff in the project but there is always a sleepover
member of staff.
The young people each have individual development plans,
which are created from the Pathways Plan that each Local Authority
will have completed, either in conjunction with the school or independently.
The placement cost includes all areas of the young
persons care, food, clothing and personal allowances. Christmas
and Birthday celebrations. The opportunity to gain a drivers license
after their 17th Birthday. Travel costs for any appointments or
visits to friends, family and significant others are also met within
the placement costs.
