Care Services
Philosophy
The philosophy which underpins our work in providing
care services is very much based on the principles outlined in the
National Care Standards. We aim to provide a truly child-centred
service that ensures a sense of safety and security, with a strong
commitment to the value and worth of each individual young person.
Respect, dignity and choice are values that are at
the heart of our work. We pride ourselves on our commitment and
ability to establish positive and enabling relationships which provide
young people with the opportunity to take the risk to trust, to
explore the issues in their lives and to benefit from the support
to make changes. Our commitment to good basic care is second to
none and is a strong focus in our day-to-day work.
Our staff team is our most valuable resource. In recruiting
adults to work with our young people, we look for people of strength,
integrity and compassion who genuinely like young people and want
to engage effectively with them. This, coupled with carefully devised
systems and procedures which aim to provide the necessary boundaries
and consistency that young people need, allows us to create a healthy
environment where young people with a variety of social, emotional
and behavioural difficulties can begin to unravel the complexities
of their lives and work towards a better way of living.
In addition to residential care for young people, the
school is also committed to supporting young people beyond their
'in care' experience by providing residential throughcare and aftercare
provision up to their 19th birthday.
