Andrea joined Moore House in 2015 and works mainly with our most disengaged young people on a one-to-one basis, both within the residential home setting and within the school building. Andrea’s main role is to encourage young people to learn and progress with their education to National Certification standard. Andrea also works over the holiday periods to develop, implement and encourage young people to engage in a variety of educational based activities to ensure a continuity of year round learning. Andrea’s Primary school teaching background means that she therefore is able to offer the full variety of subjects across the curriculum.
Andrea works very closely with the teaching staff at school. This ensures that any young person, who currently is unable to attend school, for whatever reason, is following the same curricular content and similar timetable of subjects, thus receiving their full educational entitlement.
Andrea works tirelessly in producing innovative learning resources for all pupils to encourage further engagement in learning and cement links between school staff and the young persons’ home care staff.
Andrea attends all teacher training and development meetings, thus ensuring that her role as Learning Coordinator is as consistent with up to date professional practice as that of the other teaching staff.
