About Moore House
Philosophy
The school provides a truly child-centred service,
in which the young person is at the heart of our thinking and planning.
Creating a sense of safety and security is our prime aim, underpinning
which is a strong commitment to the value and worth of each individual
young person.
We believe that past experiences and environmental
factors have had harmful effects on young people's behaviour, but
that these difficulties can be resolved through a systematic focusing
on self-awareness, self-knowledge and personal growth through the
acceptance of personal responsibility for behaviour, actions and
the future. We understand that young people will kick against the
structures and boundaries we set, and we are always prepared to
go the extra mile with a young person to give them time to grow.
Our interventions include the use of psychodynamic
principles, cognitive-behavioural therapy and behaviour modification
which aim to increase an understanding of how problems have developed
and to introduce positive ways to effect change. The building of
relationships, based on trust, warmth, and positive regard, are
seen as key to the change process.
