People

Our staff are our greatest asset, and we are committed to their support and development. The school first achievedInvestors in People in 2000, and our commitment to the systematic training and development of staff was rewarded in 2004 by our continued Investors recognition.

Our teachers are GTC registered and are subject specialists, with particular skills or qualifications in special education. A high percentage of our child care staff are qualified to at least HNC level, and we are committed to achieving the qualification targets set out by the Scottish Social Services Council.

The organisation supports staff to meet their Continuing Professional Development requirement by sponsoring staff on relevant external training courses. All of our professional staff are trained in the CALM approach to managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour, and we have four CALM instructors on the staff team.

We are affiliated to Employee Counselling Service, a specialist organisation which provides independent and confidential support to staff who have difficulties which might affect their work.
