About Moore House
History
Moore House School was opened in 1988 to provide young
people with the opportunity to achieve nationally recognised qualifications
to assist them to compete equally for training and employment.
Based originally in a former Victorian family house,
the school has expanded and now occupies 7 buildings in extensive
grounds. In 1996 Andrew McCracken joined the school as Principal
after a successful career as teacher, child care worker and manager
in local authority residential care and education provision.
In 1997 the school's sister organisation, The Jane
Moore Trust, established a Special Family Placement Service, which
has grown to around 25 families, supported and supervised from offices
in Livingston and Dundee.
In 1998 the school opened its first Close Support Unit,
and in early 2003 opened its first Throughcare Project in Livingston.
Together, the two organisations are working with around 75 vulnerable
young people, providing day education, residential care, foster
care, close support care and throughcare.
