About Moore House
Current and Future Developments
Throughcare
The organisation has developed a throughcare service
for young people leaving care, with a residential project in Livingston
which opened in January 2003 for three young people and a second
in February 2004. A third throughcare house is currently being considered.
The success of the service is evidenced by consistently
positive inspection reports from the Care Commission, alongside
encouraging feedback from service users and referring local authorities.
The Scottish Executive has shown a keen interest in the model that
has been developed and our Throughcare Services Manager is a member
of the co-ordinating committee for the annual conference of the
Throughcare and Aftercare Forum for 2005.
Family Placement Service
Our sister organisation, The Jane Moore Trust, runs
a national Special Family Placement Service with an excellent reputation
for providing professional foster families for young people who
are particularly hard to place in ordinary foster care. The Trust
provides a specialist respite service for residents at the school
who have no alternative home base.
New Services
As a forward thinking and dynamic organisation we are
flexible and creative in our responses to the needs of young people.
We are currently in discussion with a number of local authorities
regarding the development of further services to help meet their
statutory responsibilities.
